Add Hygge to Your Winter

Welcome to my last Get The Look of the year! Happy Holidays to all! I hope this Get The Look helps you have a cozy and warm winter.

Have you heard of Hygge before? If you haven't, HYGGE (pronounced hue-guh) is a Danish word, it's "an art of creating intimacy." This term doesn't have an exact translation in English, though “cozy” comes close. It is derived from a sixteenth-century Norwegian term, hugga, meaning “to comfort” or “to console,” which is related to the English word “hug.”

Hygge means creating a warm atmosphere, always cosy, charming or special, with feelings of wellness and contentment. It's not only how you decorate your home, it's what you do in your home, it's a lifestyle. It's all about enjoying the simple pleasure in life, with people you care about -or even by yourself -.

A few things you can do is add an abundance of candles to create a warm, homey feel; natural light into the space, with light linen curtains; go natural with some plants, materials like jute, wool, fur, cork or leather; a lot of blankets, rugs and fluffy throw pillows.
